NorthWestern Energy crews continue to work around the clock to repair damage caused by extreme weather Thursday evening in eastern South Dakota. About 9,500 customers lost power during the storm and service is restored to more than 8,200 of those homes and businesses.

April snow and rain only minimally improved conditions in the Madison River Basin, which is experiencing extreme drought, low soil moisture and low snowpack. Based on the U.S. Natural Resources Conservation Service May-July runoff forecast and NorthWestern Energy’s forecasting tools, this will be another challenging summer and fall due to lack of water.
NorthWestern Energy planting trees to celebrate 150th Arbor Day

NorthWestern Energy is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Arbor Day on April 29 by planting trees at our Grand Island, Neb. office, along with a $2,000 donation to the City of Grand Island Park & Recreation Department.
NorthWestern Corporation d/b/a NorthWestern Energy (Nasdaq: NWE) reported financial results for the three months ended March 31, 2022. Net income for the period was $59.1 million, or $1.08 per diluted share, as compared with net income of $63.1 million, or $1.24 per diluted share, for the same period in 2021. This $4.0 million decrease was primarily driven by lower Montana and Nebraska residential natural gas volumes, higher operating costs, and higher income tax expense. These unfavorable items were partly offset by higher Montana electric transmission revenue and electric retail volumes.
NorthWestern Energy’s downtown substation upgrade will improve service, enhance aesthetics in Caras Park area

The Missoula City Substation #1 is adjacent to East Caras Park. Originally built in the 1920s, the substation has been in continual use with investments and maintenance. This $10 million upgrade project will take the substation offline for a thorough rebuild.
NorthWestern Energy and the Missouri-Madison River Fund Trust announce funding for 2022 public recreation improvement projects

Projects funded in 2022 raise the total to150 projects with $5.5 million in funding by the River Fund Trust and $1.4 million in matching funds from Northwestern Energy in the past 16 years.
River Fund grants and NorthWestern Energy matching funds have helped leverage public agency and partner funding to provide more than $11 million in public recreation improvements in the Missouri-Madison corridor.
