NorthWestern Corporation d/b/a NorthWestern Energy (Nasdaq: NWE) reported financial results for the three months ended March 31, 2022. Net income for the period was $59.1 million, or $1.08 per diluted share, as compared with net income of $63.1 million, or $1.24 per diluted share, for the same period in 2021. This $4.0 million decrease was primarily driven by lower Montana and Nebraska residential natural gas volumes, higher operating costs, and higher income tax expense. These unfavorable items were partly offset by higher Montana electric transmission revenue and electric retail volumes.
