Public Invited to May 11 Meeting on Hebgen Reservoir and Madison River Conditions

Ennis, Mont. – April 28, 2026 – NorthWestern Energy invites the public to attend a community meeting on Monday, May 11, to discuss current conditions at Hebgen Reservoir and key issues affecting the Madison River.

The meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at El Western, 4784 U.S. Highway 287, in Ennis.

The meeting will provide an overview of current hydrologic conditions, how Hebgen and Madison dams are operated, and what those conditions may mean for river flows, fish habitat and recreation this season. NorthWestern Energy staff and Madison River partners will be available to share information and answer questions.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • Snowpack and streamflow forecasts for the Madison River
  • Fish populations and current river conditions
  • Projects sponsored by the Madison Fisheries Technical Advisory Committee
  • Flushing flows that support spawning habitat
  • Recreation projects in the Madison River corridor
  • How Hebgen and Madison dams are operated to manage streamflow under a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission license
