Smoke-detection cameras and weather stations

NorthWestern Energy is working with partnering agencies to install smoke-detection cameras and weather stations across our Montana service territory. These cameras rapidly identify wildfires and notify first responders to assist in wildfire suppression. The weather stations provide critical weather data such as temperature, humidity, wind direction and wind speed.

Weather stations

Our network of weather stations helps us keep track of changing environmental conditions which informs our operational decisions, such as Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) during extreme conditions.
