Glacial Lakes Area Development (GLAD) is a community based nonprofit serving Marshall County, South Dakota. GLAD was established to lead and coordinate economic and community development in the area. Our goal is to help our businesses prosper and enhance the quality of life for our residents.

Our primary focuses are community and business development, housing, tourism, and youth engagement. We provide business financing to aspiring entrepreneurs and existing businesses through our business loan funds

Explore Marshall County

Originally apart of Day County, Marshall County, was created by an act of the Legislative Assembly of the Territory of Dakota on March 13, 1885. An election in Day and Marshall County in May 1885 approved the act. The county was named after Marshall Vincent, a Day County commissioner. The June 1885 census of Marshall County showed 2187 people, and the assessed valuation was $400,000.
