Welcome to the Missouri-Madison Project 2188 Coordination Site.
NorthWestern Energy owns and operates two dams (Hebgen & Madison) on the Madison River and seven dams (Hauser, Holter, Black Eagle, Rainbow, Cochrane, Rainbow, & Morony) on the Missouri River. NorthWestern is authorized to operate all nine facilities by the Project 2188 license issued by The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in September 2000. The FERC license specifies conditions for operation and maintenance of the project including conditions to protect environmental resources.
The purpose of this site is to provide information on NorthWestern Energy’s ongoing resource stewardship programs implemented in the 525
mile river corridor from West Yellowstone to Fort Peck Reservoir.
