South Dakota Natural Gas Expansion

A map showing our natural gas expansion in the Sioux Falls area.

NorthWestern Energy is excited to bring commercial and residential natural gas service to the quickly developing areas of South Sioux Falls - the Tea and Harrisburg areas. Our gas main extension project in the area began in the early 2000s followed by a major expansion in 2015. That growth has led into our latest expansion. We are proud to be a part of these communities and to be the trusted regional supplier to the area.

As part of our long-term commitment to Tea and Harrisburg, NorthWestern Energy has been at work for nearly a decade making natural gas available to homes and businesses still reliant on propane and other energies. Our recent work has concentrated on the Bakker Crossing development and along 271st street east of Interstate 29.

Potentially. You would be responsible for any updates needed to convert your current system to a natural gas system. Additionally, if there was an unusual buildout or non-standard construction request made by the customer, there could be extra costs involved. These additional costs would depend on the specific details of the request and would be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
We may ask you to share part of the expense required for installation, or we may not be able to serve you yet.
A brief feasibility study will be conducted. This is to determine the construction costs required to run an underground gas line to your home and/or business.
