Date: Apr 24, 2026

Butte, Mont. – April 24, 2026 – NorthWestern Energy crews continue working this morning to restore natural gas service following an outage that occurred April 23, affecting about 670 customers in southwest Butte, primarily in the area west of Rowe Road.

The pipeline has been safely returned to service, and crews are going door to door relighting pilot lights at homes and businesses affected by the outage. Approximately 70% of customers have been restored as of this morning.

Customers must be home for NorthWestern Energy crews to safely relight pilot lights. If no one is home, crews will leave a door tag with instructions on next steps to have service restored. Customers may call 888‑467‑2669 for more information.

NorthWestern Energy thanks customers for their cooperation and patience as crews work to complete restorations safely and efficiently. All responding employees are wearing clearly logoed NorthWestern Energy gear.

Additional crews from across Montana are assisting with restoration efforts to help complete work as quickly and safely as possible.

Safety Reminder: If you smell natural gas, leave the area immediately. Do not create a spark and do not use phones, matches, light switches, or anything else that could trigger ignition. Once you are at a safe distance, call 911.
