NorthWestern Energy serves 341 communities in Montana, South Dakota and Yellowstone National Park with safe and reliable electricity. We serve natural gas to 202 communities in Montana, South Dakota and Nebraska.

We serve gas and electric to customers in the western two-thirds of Montana and eastern South Dakota. We also have gas service in Nebraska and serve electricity to Yellowstone National Park.
NorthWestern owns and operates a diverse generation fleet of wind, water, natural gas and coal-fired resources and the high-voltage electric transmission system and distribution system. We also own and operate natural gas production, transmission and distribution systems.

Our Hydro Facilities
Our carbon-free hydro system is the foundation of our energy generation portfolio in Montana. In 2024, nearly 34% of our electricity for Montana customers came from our hydro facilities.

Billings, Mont. – March 2, 2026 – NorthWestern Energy invites you to “Make a Basket, Make a Difference” during the 43rd Annual Spring Home Improvement Show, March 6-8, at the Expo Center & Montana Pavillion in Billings to raise money for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Yellowstone County.
Visit NorthWestern Energy’s booth and try your hand at the pop-a-shot basketball game. For every basket made, NorthWestern Energy will donate $1 to the organization.
“Come by our booth, show off your skills, and help raise money for this organization that supports the youth in our community,” said NorthWestern Energy Community Relations Manager Molly Schwend. “It’s free to play, and NorthWestern Energy is proud to support the Boys and Girls Clubs of Yellowstone County.”
“The Boys & Girls Clubs of Yellowstone County provides mentoring, learning enrichment, positive role models and a safe, productive place for our young people,” said Vice President Donor Advancement Karrie Owen. “We are grateful for NorthWestern Energy’s support, which helps make it possible for us to offer these programs for our members.”
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Yellowstone County has been serving the community since 1971. Today the organization has grown to five Clubhouses serving almost 1,200 elementary, middle, and high school members with a mission to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
