Billings, Mont. – July 2, 2025 – NorthWestern plans to release 500 cubic feet per second (cfs) for 5 hours from West Rosebud Lake Dam to provide downstream flows for whitewater recreation on Saturday, July 5.
Whitewater releases from West Rosebud Lake Dam will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Peak flow (near 500 cfs) will reach the Emerald Lake Outlet between approximately 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Saturday and will continue for approximately 2 ½ hours, gradually reducing to pre-enhanced base flow conditions thereafter.
