NorthWestern Energy planting trees to celebrate 150th Arbor Day

Date: Apr 28, 2022

TYPE: News

Grand Island, Neb. – April 28, 2022 – NorthWestern Energy is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Arbor Day by planting trees at our Grand Island office, along with a $2,000 donation to the City of Grand Island Park & Recreation Department.

NorthWestern Energy’s new Grand Island office, 612 S. Webb Road, opened in 2019 and employees are planting trees on the grounds from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. April 29, Friday.

“150 years ago Nebraskans established Arbor Day, planting trees for windbreaks to prevent erosion, for fuel and building material and for shade from the hot sun,” said NorthWestern Energy Community Relations Manager Tom Glanzer. “Today trees contribute to healthier communities and protecting our planet. If you plan to celebrate Arbor Day by planting a tree or shrub, or plan any other project requiring digging, call 811 two days before your project to have your underground utility lines marked.  It is a free service and keeps you and your neighbors safe during work on any digging project.”

NorthWestern Energy is committed to supporting the Arbor Day mission in our buildings’ landscaping plans, as well as with support for organizations that plant and maintain trees in the communities we serve.
