NorthWestern Energy helps save more than 1 million kilowatt hours to energy for Helena Public Schools

Butte, Mont. – NorthWestern Energy is providing more than $84,000 to the Helena Public Schools for the Efficiency Plus (E+) Commercial Lighting rebates for LED lighting design and operation for the new elementary schools, Bryant, Central and Jim Darcy. The schools collectively will save more than 1 million kilowatt-hours of electricity as a result of the energy efficient upgrades, installed commercial lighting and electric construction projects in the new buildings. That’s enough electricity to power four elementary schools for a year.

NorthWestern Energy is also providing $88,000 in E+ Renewable Energy program incentives for installation of solar photovoltaic systems for Bryant Elementary and Central Elementary schools.

Bryant Elementary

  • $24,206 in E+ rebates and 289,230 kiloWatt-hours (KWh) of energy savings through the E+ Commercial Lighting and E+ Electric New Construction programs.
  • $50,000 incentive through the E+ Renewable Energy program for a 50 kilowatt solar photovoltaic system.

Central Elementary

  • $38,854 in E+ rebates and 465,819 KWh of energy savings through the E+ Commercial Lighting and E+ Electric New Construction programs.
  • $38,000 incentive through the E+ Renewable Energy program for a 50 kilowatt solar photovoltaic system.

Jim Darcy Elementary

  • $38,000 in E+ rebates and 289,230 kiloWatt-hours (KWh) of energy savings through the E+ Commercial Lighting and E+ Electric New Construction programs.

E+ Commercial Lighting and E+ Electric New Construction rebates are funded through electricity supply rates and E+ Renewable Energy incentives are funded by the Universal System Benefits program with money collected from all NorthWestern Energy electric customers in Montana.
