NorthWestern Energy offers Montana commercial customers energy-related training.  

Scholarships:
Employees of most companies served with NorthWestern Energy electricity are eligible for training and workshop scholarships.  Click on each training for additional details.


2019 Education & Training Opportunities: 

Building Operator Certification® (BOC) Training

NorthWestern Energy customers - Prequalified tuition scholarships ($1,500) are offered to non-profit hospitals, public schools, State of Montana, city and county government facilities personnel - recipients will be notified prior to class – qualifications apply.

Building Operator Certification (BOC®) is a nationally recognized, competency-based training and certification program that offers facilities personnel the improved job skills and knowledge to transform workplaces to be more comfortable, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.
The BOC program trains facilities personnel to understand how these systems work together, and how to bring them to their most efficient level of operation. Level I training provides an overview of critical building systems.

Join us in Missoula for Building Operator Certification Level 1 Training: October 1 through October 3October 29 through October 31  and November 20 through November 21.

Home Energy Rater Training

Who Should Attend: Anyone in the residential new construction industry who is interested in learning about building science and residential energy efficient design. Most likely participants are people in HVAC, home insulation, home energy inspections, builders, and code officials. 

Description: This training program includes design and construction techniques based on building science principles, building tightness and duct tightness testing training (now a code requirement), Rater and ENERGY STAR program information.

Includes: Training manual, Classroom training, Field training, and 2 of the 5 required probationary home energy ratings. The National Rater Exam will be offered at a later date.
