Reliable Energy for Montana

Oct 05, 2016 |

The Power of Montana

At NorthWestern Energy, we are committed to delivering safe, reliable and affordable energy to our customers. To do this, we use a balanced mix of traditional energy sources and clean, renewable resources. Our customers benefit from the wide variety of energy efficiency programs we offer that help reduce personal energy use and the costs associated. And because of our past investments and future planning, our customers benefit from below-average rates from a utility that is truly financially stable.

“Our customers deserve credit for what’s already been accomplished in energy efficiency and the significant amount of renewable energy in our portfolio.”
Robert Rowe, president and CEO

Clean Energy

To date, we have invested more than $1 billion in clean energy projects, including hydro, wind and solar energy. Now, more than 60 percent of the electricity that we
  provide Generation_photocollage_600x800our Montana customers is
generated with zero-carbon water and wind
energy. Recently, we invested $1 million in a
solar pilot project that launched in Bozeman
on September 30, 2016 – and plans for two
other similar pilot projects are already in the

The project is one of many ways we’re evaluating new technology that could potentially benefit all customers. It’s also worth noting that our current energy portfolio of owned and contracted energy resources already has a carbon footprint lower than the EPA 2030 goal.

Reliable Energy

While we continue to consider future investments in wind, hydro and solar energy, NorthWestern Energy has a responsibility to provide all customers with reliable, affordable electricity each and every day. Natural gas-fired generation and coal are critical sources of energy that allow us to meet our customers’ needs 24/7, especially on the hottest and coldest days when wind and solar typically aren’t available.

A Leader in Energy

For more than 30 years, we’ve offered energy efficiency programs and rebates to help our customers conserve energy and reduce their monthly energy bills. Now seen as a leader, NorthWestern Energy is responsible for about 80 percent of the energy efficiency achieved in Montana.

From renewable energy to energy efficiency, we are committed and excited to be working with our customers as we continue to create a clean Montana now and for the future. N807-30607-Clean-Energy-Rally-Support-DIGITAL_v01_dp3
