Public Meeting on Hebgen Lake and Upper Madison Set for July 19

Butte, Mont. – July 10, 2018 – NorthWestern Energy, the U.S. Forest Service and others will hold a summer informational meeting about topics related to Hebgen Lake and the Upper Madison River on Thursday, July 19, 2018 in West Yellowstone, MT.

The meeting of the Hebgen-Madison Recreation Advisory Group of NorthWestern Energy’s Missouri-Madison Hydroelectric Project is aimed at cabin owners and members of the public. It will begin at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in West Yellowstone. The address is 315 Yellowstone Avenue.

At the meeting, Forest Service staff and recreation planning consultants will provide information on projects underway at Hebgen Lake and along the Upper Madison River. NorthWestern Energy will provide information on the current operation of Hebgen Dam, a wrap-up of construction activities at the dam, as well as an update on aquatic invasive species management.

In 2018, River Fund grants and NorthWestern Energy matching funds provided nearly $180,000 in funding for projects that will enhance public recreation in the Hebgen-Madison Region. The River Fund program will accept applications for FY2019 funding through 12:00 pm August 24th.
