NorthWestern’s Trees Together program emphasizes why trees are an important asset to our utility and our communities, and also shares safety tips and energy saving information with consumers, including:

  • Planning Where You Plant: We encourage you to plant the right tree in the right place, with emphasis on the importance of planning where you plant. Think about the entire lifespan of the tree and how high and wide it is expected to grow before you ever put it in the ground. Be aware of overhead and underground power lines and underground natural gas lines. Always call 811 before you dig.
  • The Many Benefits of Trees: Trees provide many economic, social and environmental benefits. Trees generate oxygen, aid in air pollution control, recycle water and reduce soil erosion.
  • Tree Trimming Essentials: Trimming trees is a homeowner’s responsibility, but before you trim a tree near a power line, call NorthWestern Energy and we’ll stop by to make sure it’s safe.
  • Trees, the Original Energy Savers: A well-designed landscape not only can add beauty to your home but it also can reduce your heating and cooling costs. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, on average, landscaping for energy efficiency provides enough energy savings to return an initial investment in less than 8 years.
  • Community Works: When we plant a tree, we're putting down roots that help communities become more sustainable. We're leaving a legacy for future generations while creating healthy and beautiful communities that make a difference today.
