Rebates are now available for customers who install energy-saving water measures. Insulating your water-heating tank and piping reduces heat loss, and installing low flow shower heads and kitchen and bathroom aerators helps save water and energy.
Low flow shower heads, faucet aerators, and Insulation kits for tanks and pipes can be purchased at your local hardware store. Be sure and read the manufacturer’s instructions for installation of these materials. Always use caution when installing the materials and remember, NEVER install an insulation blanket or pipe insulation on your natural gas hot water tank if it is located near a flue or exhaust vent.
If you heat your hot water with natural gas or electricity delivered by NorthWestern Energy, and your home has not previously been audited, your home may be eligible for a free home energy audit through the E+ Energy Audit for the Home. Water energy-saving measures may be installed for free as part of the home audit. Call (800) 823-5995 to find out if your home has been audited.
Eligibility: NorthWestern Energy residential natural gas or electric hot water heat customers in existing homes are eligible to participate. Customers building a new home are not eligible for rebates under this program.
How to Apply for the Rebate: Rebates are based upon whether you heat your hot water with electricity or natural gas. Choose the rebate information and application form that is appropriate for your home.
