Planning for motor failure and replacing inefficient electric motors with premium efficiency motors are good business practices. The energy savings from the first two years of operation of a premium efficiency motor will usually exceed the added cost to purchase the more efficient motor. Buying premium efficiency motors is more affordable through the E+ Motor Rebate program.
Standardized rebates are provided for 1 horsepower (Hp) through 200 Hp motors. Rebates for motors larger than 200 Hp will be customized based upon the incremental cost of the motor and the value of the electrical savings.
Rebates are for general purpose alternating current (AC) small and medium continuous rated, single speed, poly-phase, squirrel-cage inductions motors of 2 (3,600 rpm), 4 (1,800 rpm), or 6 (1,200 rpm) pole design, meeting the performance requirements of NEMA for Design A or B. Motors meeting NEMA Premium® efficiency requirements cost less to operate since they use less electricity for the same task. Click here for a listing of NEMA premium efficiency motors.
