As a NorthWestern Energy customer, you have several payment options. Choose the option that is convenient for you.

EZ Pay

Have your monthly payment automatically deducted from your checking or savings account. You will still receive a monthly billing statement and have time to review it, but you won't have to write a check and mail it. To sign up, print out the Automatic Enrollment Form and return it to us by mail or fax using the contact information on the form.

Pay Online

Make a payment directly from your checking, savings or money market account, or if you prefer, pay using your Credit/Debit or ATM card (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX or Discover Card), through our association with SpeedPay, Inc®.

Pay in Person
Through our association with Western Union® you can pay in person at convenient 'Quick Pay' locations in Montana or in person at one of our local offices in Montana, Nebraska or South Dakota.
Pay by Text
Paying your energy bill can be as simple as sending a text when you sign up for our Pay by Text payment option! With Pay by Text, you will receive a text message (5) days before your due date each month, alerting you that your payment is due. Then, all you have to do is reply “YES NWE” and a Western Union® SpeedPay® transaction will be triggered where your payment will be processed and the amount will be credited to your NorthWestern Energy account. It's that simple!
E-bill
Enroll in our free electronic E-bill program. With NorthWestern Energy E-bill, you’ll receive an e-mail notification when your bill is available to review online – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It’s fast, convenient, and completely secure. To sign up, just log in to your energy account and submit your information online.
Budget Billing

With Budget Billing, you pay the same amount each month. Budget Billing amounts are calculated based upon your past 12 months of usage and the rates currently in effect. Want an idea of what your monthly Budget Billing payment might be? Use the calculator for a quick average.

NorthWestern Energy will review your Budget Billing amount periodically to prevent a large overpayment or underpayment from accumulating on your account. Changes may be necessary in your Budget amount due to an increase or decrease in your usage patterns and/or the rates currently in effect.
